Activa antimicrobial coating in pewter did a great job and covered a gloss orange wall paint without using a primer. It has a flat finish. The medium grey is a pleasant, soothing color. It did take 2 coats, as the instructions indicated. I used it in the cat’s room and I think it has helped ameliorate the cat litter smell. Another plus is the fact that it is eco-friendly and there is no odor on application.
Pros: Dries Quickly, Even Application, Good Coverage, High Quality of Material, Looks Great

HomeDepotAddict

Easy to apply. Almost no odor. A bit thinner than typical paint. One cup water quickly mixed the gel like paint into a liquid. Applied on a fiber board type ceiling with very good results. Two coats were necessary. 3/8′ nap roller and brush made applying paint easy. Clear concise picture type instructions on plastic gallon stated to wait 6-8 hours between coats. Second coat provided a very white finish. Like the eco friendly and photocatalysis aspects. Coverage seems lower then typical paint, maybe the fiber board absorbed more despite being previously painted. After four months paint still looks as it did first day. Hope all the “Antimicrobial Anti-Mold Earth Friendly Self-Cleaning Photocatalytic” qualities prove true. The paint would truly be something new and earth friendly. We are excited and satisfied with Activia Photo Deco white paint and will be seeing if some can be tinted for walls.

My husband painted the bathroom with Activa. He is a very picky person and I didn’t hear a word of complaint from him. He treasured the last drop of the paint. The paint did not drip from the ceiling, dried fast and did not have the ‘new paint’ smell. Still have to see the anti-mold etc effects.

Excellent paint. I bought this for my office makeover and figure to try out a new brand a paint. This paint had some killer features advertised. It rolls on well and has a low odor. Even better it dried quickly and cleaned up well from any drips. Over all its an excellent choice from the normal paint section.

Pros: Easy to clean, Drys quickly
Cons: No larger sizes than 1 gal at my store

The coverage of this product is fantastic. It reminds me of painting with a paint & primer in one. I used 1 coat on my fake brick panels in my guest bathroom and have given it 3 months to determine if the product performs as it says. I cant really say on the anti mold at this point because I do not have a mold issue in my bathroom. But what I can say is that my bathroom always seems to smell extra clean which I chalk up to the antimicrobial properties of this product. And the color is very pretty too.

So far so good with this paint. It has a lot of good properties that made it a simple choice for putting it in my bathroom. The first is the anti-mold and the odor eliminating, those make it a must have in a bathroom. As far as the antimicrobial and self cleaning only time will tell with those. Was a little thick to start but was much easier to handle after adding a little water. Overall I’m happy with the outcome and the color. Would use this again when I need to repaint some of my other rooms.

Well we all know that when it comes to painting we never look forward to it, but boy does it look like you’ve done something after your done. I just finished painting my half bath / storage room and it looks sharp and now it’s a matter of time to see whether or not this paint does everything the manufacturer says it will.
Activa paints are antimicrobial and and anti-mold earth friendly self cleaning photocatalytic or should stand up better in rooms that don’t gt that much attention or maybe higher moisture content than the rest of the home at times.
The big difference is you will notice right away this paint is too thick just to roll on so at the manufacturers request add one cup per gallon. I simply mixed one cup with a grout mixer on a battery operated drill at the lowest possible speed. You can mix it by hand but it is going to take some muscle and man hours. For the most part one layer covers all except what I missed.
It has hardly any odor for paint and dries very quickly so you see that final color ans sheen soon. Looks great in the Madrid Beige in eggshell sheen.

Cons: mixing water is a little tough

This Barcelona Blue Latex Paint is very nice in both the color and how it goes on. Most people would use this for their walls but I use it for acrylic paintings. The package came in good condition and in a timely matter. This color would be great for any room in your house, especially in a bedroom or even a bathroom. The fact that it is antimicrobial and anti- mold is a plus.

I am using this in my basement, as there is a moisture problem there, and paints like DryLock etc. only mostly work. This went on easily -almost too easily – as it was sometimes hard to see where I had left off. I’ve had it in place a few weeks and so far so good. It seems to be staying clean. I am purchasing more to finish the basement, and then if I continue to be happy will to the outside chimney bricks as they gather a moss.

So only in time will I be able to fully review the ability of this paint to reduce odors and it’s “self-cleaning” attributes. And maybe not even in time thanks to the placebo effect of me knowing its in the room… BUT I have to assume that the claims they make can’t be entirely made up, especially when they are claiming LEED points, so I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt on that…
As for the paint itself, it is really pretty good, I used a basic white in a small bathroom and it went on easy enough and looks great. BUT, while adding water isn’t a big deal, I would have liked a little more liquid of a consistency to start with, I ended up buying a mixer attachment for my drill since I didn’t trust I was getting it done by hand, and even then I poured some into the paint tray, mixed in a little more water, then poured it back to mix again. Other than that it was great!

This product has many, many features that you do not see in traditional paints. A couple of these features are: permanently removes odors and pollutants, antimicrobial qualities by killing viruses and bacteria, and increases better air quality. This is a photocatalytic paint that can help with air quality. A research article can be found here about this type of paint. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S135223100800068X
I have used some of this paint on some surfaces that had mold on them, once cleaned the paint has very similar properties of application like the Behr brand does, it has a very light odor that dissipates quickly. It has met my expectations,

I painted my back entrance hallway with this paint. The color fit into the decoration scheme. It went on easy and dried fairly quickly. I traid washing it after it a week to see how it held up to cleaning it. The paint held up fine, no problems with cleaning it It is supposedly better for the environment it does not have ,much of a smell going on.washes up easy. Dries quickly, you use regular painting equipment to paint it on. As with all painting clean the walls first, although it :stuck” very well to the wall surface. I am not sure it is better than regular paint. I would have to evaluate it after a year to see if it is photocataltic and mold proof.

This product, PREMIUM ANTIMICROBIAL ANTI-MOLD EARTH FRIENDLY SELF-CLEANING PHOTOCATALYTIC INTERIOR PAINT arrived by common carrier quickly and well packed in an overcarton and a separate thick plastic bag inside the overcarton. This detail by the manufacturer is representative of the overall value and quality of the product. It was fairly easy to apply and covers well. I look forward to updating this review and providing use and wearability in my application as time passes to see if all of the advertised performance features are realized.

Pros: Easy to Apply, Even Application, Good Coverage, High Quality of Material, Looks Great

I have to applaud it’s eco-friendly intentions! The product arrived with no instructions at all. After researching what I could find on the internet, I decided that it could be applied with a roller, and used a roller designed for rough surfaces. The product is a thin, milky white liquid that applied easily and evenly. It covered a 10 x 15 brick paver patio with one coat and was dry to the touch in one hour. Time will tell if it is actually self cleaning, but I am hopeful it will work as advertised.
Pros: Dries Quickly, Easy to Apply, Even Application, Good Coverage
Cons: No Instructions

Very nice, theTrim White Latex premium paint applies very easily and covers very well. Very satisfied with the way it covered and old color didn’t bleed through the new paint. I will be needing some more of this paint soon to finish the areas. Cleaning up the rollers after was very easy. Would recommend this product for all my family and friends. Overall very satisfied.

The Barcelona blue latex paint is a very pleasing color. We removed the wallpaper from existing walls and the texture and coverage area looks very nice. We will be getting more of this color to other areas to finish up the project. I will be looking for this same color in the near future. The application was easy and drying time was very good. Great product.

Great paint, covers very well, I used it in my cellar stairway to freshen it up. It looks very nice and went on very easily and covered very well. You do need to read the instructions that come with it as you do need to add some water to it so as to thin it a little, as it comes from out of the country and may be a little thick. It really appears to be a high end paint.

Over the decades, the paint industry has produced an ever-increasing array of specialized paints — rust-inhibiting, waterproofing, sealing, etc. So it should come as no surprise that, with the advent of “smart” technology, Activa would offer today’s homeowners what is referred to as Smart Paint.
But it’s not a marketing ploy. It’s real, and it’s here.
Activa seized upon using a photochemical process discovered decades ago called photocatalysis. This process involves triggering a reaction in your Smart Paint — in this case, killing of bacteria, viruses and microbes — by simply exposing it to the light that enters your home. I decided what better room to try out this new technology than the main bath, where germs & bacteria are always ongoing adversaries.
Like others have mentioned, this paint needs a bit of simple pre-paint prep before use. Once you’ve added a cup of clean water & stirred it thoroughly, it’s ready to apply.
The paint brushes and rolls on like any other high-quality latex I’ve used, and is relatively low odor. It dries quickly to a flat, even color (I chose the warm, stately Pewter). I applied a second coat for good measure. The bath looks great, and I was impressed at the Activa’s overall coverage. A good quality paint — with a hidden, long-term health benefit! Recommend.

Pros: Dries Quickly, Easy Instructions, Easy to Apply, Easy to Clean, Easy to Use, Even Application, Good Coverage, Good Protection, Looks Great, Looks High End, anti-microbial, anti-virus

like no other paint that Ive ever used . first thing you have to do is add a touch of h2o to get it to act like anything you’ve ever used. It deffinetly boasts a lot of great features. It deffinetly did not give off any funky oder, and it seemed to lay down nicely ,we will see about the self cleaning aspect ,but it does allow smudges be be wiped off easily with just a damp towel and the anti mold disclaimers seem pretty cool for a small bathroom the size of a pietre dish. Overall Think it was a very high quality paint that I would use any ware moisture could become an issue

Pros: Easy to Clean, High Quality of Material, Modern

IAmTheJudgeOfNoOne

I made a great choice when I got this paint! I am adding a bathroom in my basement and was a little rushed with the drywall so you can see the seam a little bit. I got this gallon of paint to add texture to it to cover up any imperfections. It says to add a cup of water to it because it comes from Spain. I did that, mixed it manually, and then added my bag of texture. It all fit in the container the paint came in. This paint is very very bright white. As you can see in the picture there is a big difference between the first coat of a different white paint I used than this one. I will finish the other half and then put on a second coat later today. I am very happy so far and I think it will look great when I am done. The paint is thick so it doesn’t take much. I bet if I didn’t add texture one coat would have been enough. I don’t give out 5’s very often but this deserves it.

Painting our walls was a breeze with this brand of paint by Activa in the color Toledo Pewter, it’s an amazing color to add to a living room or any room. We painted our living room with this paint and the application was silky, smooth and has great coverage. The specs sheet it came with mentions the aspects of what this latex paint can do. WOW, I never knew a paint could be so good for one’s health, it is now our new go to brand for sure, and I am so happy, I love the color!

I ordered online at Home Depot the Activa white latex interior paint and it arrived fast, but I want to point out that the white paint had seeped out, but that the paint was contained within the plastic bag the gallon of paint was protected in. It was such a small amount though, but still very useable. The paint is manufactured in Spain. I love that it is manufactured in Spain and not in China. I am very surprised at what this marvelous latex paint can do. I added a photo of part of the spec sheet. It’s probably the best paint out there. It is self cleaning, odor reducing, anti-microbial, and contains no VOC’s. The paint looks beautiful on my walls. I feel very privileged to get the opportunity to use this Activa paint from Home Depot.

I have to give 5 stars to any paint that sets out to be deodorizing, air purifying and self-cleaning! What a great bonus for a freshly painted room! After adding the cup of water, the paint was still quite thick and difficult to stir,so my husband used a keyhole bit with his cordless drill and stirred it with no problem. It covered nicely with one coat, as the color we were painting over was white, but I just like to do 2 coats as standard procedure. So far, everything is fresh and clean, so time will tell if the photocatalysis technology actually lives up to it’s claims.I have great hope or it’s success!

Twenty First Century Paint.
Paint is no longer just paint. Technology has come to the rescue and it’s pretty cool. We have computers we use a phones, where internet searches, restaurant reviews, GPS navigation, social media, music and videos are considered normal. We have door bells we can answer when we’re 1/2 way around the world. Or we can ask our home assistant to turn on the lights or set up a mood. Or our refrigerator can tell us when we’re out of orange juice, then reorder for us. But until now, our paint is just putting color on our wall.
This paint is revolutionary. Inside the paint is high tech chemicals that can clean the air. Or self clean dirt. And it can even kill bacteria and mold and even destroy viruses.
It uses the energy in light to make chemical reactions. The chemical reactions help keep our house clean and healthy.
Does it work. I haven’t run a test, so I don’t know. Does our air smell any different? I can’t tell. How about killing nasties? I can’t tell you either.
What I do know – this paint is thick. Make that, super thick. The instructions say to add a cup of water, which I did. I tried to mix it and it’s still thick. I pulled out my power mixer and … it’s still thick! I was tempted to thin it out, but I wanted to follow the directions, so I poured it in the roller tray – did I mention that it’s thick!
The thick mixture is definitely more work to roll on the wall. I was tempted to spray it, but I had it in the roller pan, so I figured I’d continue. My normal method of rolling is to get paint on the wall, then roll it out – let the roller do the work. Overlapping the last section, while still wet, so no lines show. This paint is so thick, I had to modify my normal process. I rolled it on the wall, then dipped and rolled a second time. Then started overlapping the new section. It worked well and then came time to cut in the top, bottom and corners – my helper does that, while I continue rolling. Keep the assembly line moving! No problem! I went around the room and was considering a second coat. I took a step back and was impressed – looks like one coat will work.
I let it dry and it looked great. Maybe I should’ve done a second coat to get a thicker film, but I don’t think it needed it. The cut in at the top and corners was a little thin and I could’ve done a second coat, but it looks good.
**I will make a slight correction to what I wrote above. I currently use Behr Marquise for most of my painting, because I like how it flows and that it has some sort of dirt lifter – easier to keep clean. And I can attest to it working. So, I’m hopeful and actually pretty confident that the new High Tech paint will do what it claims to. For slightly more than other high grade paints, I see good value with this paint. It not only looks great, but it helps with house chores and it does good for air quality and our health.
I recommend you give this paint a try. This may soon become our go-to paint!**
Pros: Dries Quickly, Easy to Clean, Even Application, Good Coverage, High Quality of Material, Looks Great, Looks High End, Modern, Very Adhesive, high tech, cleans air, cleans dirt, good for health
Cons: Super Thick

MikeTheReviewer

Like another seeds reviewer mentioned my paint can was leaking slightly when I opened the shipping box, the plastic can was wrapped in clear plastic, but the paint leaked slightly thru that as well, but not enough to send it back. It did also leak thru the box and stained my concrete front steps. I will use this latex interior paint in our master bathroom where we sometimes have a mold problem. This paint should help prevent that mold growth as well as help keep the bathroom smelling fresh and clean. The paint is very thick and the directions say to add a cup of water to it, so you’ll have to most likely pour this into a larger metal can and use a power drill paint mixing tool which Home Depot sells. I wouldn’t trust the original plastic can to mix the paint in with the drill powered paint mixing tool. I also found out that HD will not use their power paint shaking machine to mix any coloring into the paint.

Cons: plastic can breaks easily, hd store will not use their power shaker

1 Gal. Segovia cream latex interior paint is a base latex interior paint, I love the color and the brightness it gives my wall after finishing. The paint goes on very easily, I painted my kids room, and the best part is it doesn’t have a strong odor. I was pleased with the finished result and refreshing the walls. I would highly recommend this good paint because its easy to clean, easy to use and has great coverage.

I painted my first and second floor hallways and stairways with this Activa paint in Segovia Cream. I love that it comes in a resealable plastic container rather than a metal can. I expect leftover paint will last longer in the plastic container without introducing rust into the paint. This is a latex paint for interior use only. Unlike regular paint, there was very little separation of the pigments. Ordinarily, I would take the can to my local paint store and ask that they run the can through their mixer to ensure a good color blend, but the plastic container would probably not hold up under high agitation, so I stirred the paint with a paint stick. The paint is thick in the container; about the consistency of yogurt, so the manufacturer recommends adding a cup of water to thin it out. The paint mixes easily and applies smoothly and easily with a brush and roller. I applied a white primer to the walls prior to applying the Activa paint, and it covered in one coat. I did however have to apply a second coat to areas of the wall where I filled small holes and imperfections with wall patch. The eggshell finish has just the right amount of sheen for an interior wall. The paint dries quickly, and there is virtually no odor. Clean up is accomplished with a mild liquid soap and water. This is my first experience with using a smart paint with deodorizing, self-cleaning, air purifying and biofilm destroying benefits using light energy. While I’m not sure about all that, or the science behind it, the finished paint job looks great.

It didn’t come with any instructions, only the msds. I don’t know if it’s applied full strength or mixed with water, so I applied full strength. I couldn’t find anything online that instructs how to use this product. I got this to use in my lake cottage because it gets so humid and there is always mold growth on any unfinished wood surfaces. I applied it to tile in the bathroom, wood planks on the bunk beds, and the window frame. So far it works but only time will tell. I’m hoping this keeps the mold from coming back on the wood. This can also be used on decks, roofs, shower curtains and liners. The brochure I found online mentions 10 year warranty but what does it mean? Once applied it lasts 10 years or what? I wish this company had more information on their brochure and a phone to contact them for questions.

I’ve finally been able to try this Activa paint out. All I can say so far is I am very happy. This paint is thick. The instructions say add 1 cup of water and mix well. HomeDepot won’t mix this because it comes in a plastic bucket and they say it may not seal well enough. I mixed it with an attachment for my electric drill. I just used a little bit to see how it spreads. It seems to do very well. I will be painting my new kitchen cabinets with this paint. It has almost no odor when painting. I’m sure it will look great. I will have to wait and see how it holds up to cleaning, as it is in the kitchen. So far I’m very happy to be getting my kitchen project wrapped up.

The paint itself seemed to cover good but as it dried I noticed some strange vertical lines. Initially I thought it was exposing defects in the wall surface. I applied the 2nd coat at a diagonal to test. The lines, as it turns out, are the overlap areas when the roller is reloaded or just roller marks when blending the reloads. Though not as pronounced as the 1st coat you can see some of the surface “texture lines” in the photo after the 2nd coat, if you look closely. I can’t recall ever seeing that before. Also I experienced a lot of clots/chunks rolling on that had to be picked off and re-rolled. I don’t usually sieve my paint. This is a basement stairway, I figured a good place for its other properties, Antimicrobial, Self-cleaning, Odor Reducing. That’s something time will determine and if the paint is worth the cost and a better rating.

I won’t pretend to understand how this stuff works but I am convinced that it does. We repainted an interior bathroom with this Activa paint. It is a windowless, interior space and though it does have a vent fan, it can get quite stale. Not awful but enough to notice. We thinned the paint slightly as recommended on the package and it went on the walls about like any other paint. Coverage of the old dark color was surprisingly good. Now, a month later, the staleness has not reappeared. Being an interior space that does not get any natural light, we leave a lower power LED on for a couple of hours a day to aid the process per the instructions. Being no chemist, I can’t tell you how it works but it actually does. The only negative to report was that a slight amount leaked out of the plastic can during shipping but the tub is wrapped in a plastic bag so none escaped the packaging.

Pros: Easy to Apply, Good Coverage, Self-cleaning with Light
Cons: Pricey

I really love the color and as always used this in my rental unit. It went on with ease and it didn’t smell really strong when applying it which made a huge difference for me being that it was in a very small area. The walls look so nice and fresh. I would highly recommend this paint and color to anyone. I am so happy with the finished product and so are my renters.

I love this color that I chose even more than the beige, it looks so nice. I love that this paint goes on very easily and that it doesn’t have a strong odor. I also used this in my rental unit to freshen the walls up and I cannot say how pleased I am with the finished product. The place looks brand new. I would highly recommend this product to everyone who wants to freshen up their look.

This is a nice bright white ceiling paint that has good paint coverage. It went on the ceiling very smoothly, but I did have to dilute it a bit with water as directed on the package. I don’t really understand the science behind the paint, but it is supposed to be deodorizing, self-cleaning, air purifying and mold-reducing. I do like the faint pleasant aroma of the paint as I applied it, and time will tell if it has all of those other properties. I recommend this paint as a high quality, good-coverage ceiling paint.

This “Activa” Ceiling Photo Deco white latex interior paint is the best ceiling paint I have ever used. It gives a very smooth application and dries with no streaks, plus it produces a healthy environment. This paint dries to the touch within 35 minutes and it does state on the can that a second coat should be applied after 6 to 8 hours.
This paint permanently destroys odors and pollutants as well as stains. It prevents growth of bacteria and fungi. Environmentally safe and each gallon will cover 200 to 250 feet. I used it on a 10 feet to 16 ft. room which I had some left.
I really like the finish it produced. I will be buying more for other rooms.

Pros: Dries Quickly, Easy to Apply, Easy to Use, Even Application, Good Coverage, Good Protection, Looks Great, Looks High End

This Activa smart interior paint seems to be a perfect paint for many reasons. It is self-cleaning, antimicrobial, low odor. It takes some elbow grease to use it though. After adding the cup of water, the mixing was very tedious. It was like mixing grout. It probably needed an power tool with a paddle. After giving up on mixing, scooped some out with the mixing stick into the tray. Using a roller, the paint rolled out clumpy like in the can, but going over it with the roller for a couple of extra strokes, it flattened out and looked good.
After trying it out in the kitchen, and liking the final result, will use in the bathroom.
Pros: Dries Quickly, Easy Instructions, Easy to Clean, Good Coverage, Good Protection, Looks Great
Cons: Hard to Stir, Clumpy at First

Palaranda

As I am all for eco-friendly paint and if it is all what they advertise it is, and I’ve no doubts that it is what it says it is (but only time will be the factor) it is the way to go for all modern paints.
I ended up using an unused tool that is used for mixing mortar fitted to my drill after emptying the contents into a five-gallon bucket ( I thought it would never empty as it was that thick) and then adding water to the paint container and gave that a good stir before adding it to the five gallon bucket and finally gave that a couple of minutes mixing. Using a roller on the ceiling was uneventful as it went on smooth and easy, although after giving it an hour I did have to use another coat as the old paint was showing through in a few places. It used to be sky blue and had been touched up using a darker color.

Very satisfied with the results. So, would I go buy some more? Yes, I will but will wait until I can get some without the extended rim so the next one I will most certainly get Home Depot to fit it to their “shake-a-can” machine

Pros: Dries Quickly

Goes on smooth. Having an active paint makes a lot of sense especially in rooms where you do a lot of breathing and living.
To start with I used this paint in my master bathroom. The vibrant light blue of Barcelona Blue works well with my white marble floors and shower. It’s a satin paint, not a gloss. The paint is a bit ‘thick’ and the manufacturer actually suggests thinning it with a cup of water, which I did. This helped it go on easier and did not make it too thin. One coat over a light beige base paint was all I needed. (maybe a few touchups here and there.) Dried within an hour, at least to the touch. Clean-up is easy with soap and water. I did have to run out to Home Depot and buy an empty gallon paint bucket for a few dollars, the base of the plastic bucket was put down too abruptly causing a crack and a leak – fun. So just a warning, be gentle with your bucket. (Not the fault of the product itself.)
One last thing to mention: I did have a concern about using this paint given this is an active coating. You are using UV light to activate something to change the chemical compounds from X to Y. This of course got me wondering, what is the by-product? Meaning you don’t magically lose molecules of bad things, like dust or mold, so what is the resulting item? I reached out to the manufacturer to see if they could tell me, didn’t hear back. Further online digging on Activa Coating shows the byproducts are Gypsum, Calcium Nitrate and Limestone. Which are apparently safe. Would have liked to have found a study or a white paper on the subject. But this put my concerns aside and it looks top notch.

We’ve always used Home Depot paint for our projects. We’ve painted our entire house except our basement bathroom. Recently we decided to update the bathroom with a new floor, toilet and vanity. The drywall needed some tlc so we patched some areas then of course needed to paint. The 1 GAL. TOLEDO PEWTER LATEX INTERIOR PAINT is a great color and we are happy with the coverage. Only needed 1.5 coats over an existing color that was similar.

This is different than any ceiling paint I have ever used and believe me in the past 40 years I have painted a lot of ceilings in places I have lived. I must stress to PLEASE READ THE DIRECTIONS FIRST. I have never bought a ceiling paint that has to have water added to it. Other than strange directions, this had good coverage. As I said, please read the directions carefully before starting your project.

Pros: Dries Quickly, Easy to Apply, Even Application, Looks Great
Cons: Different Instructions Must Read Carefully

The gallon of Activa, Segovia Cream latex interior paint was just enough to cover the walls in my master bathroom. I found this paint to be easy to cut in and roll on. I was able to give it two coats, the first coat covered well and I had enough paint left to use it up on a second light coat. I added the one cup of water as the instructions recommend and the paint did not splatter off the roller at all. I did not notice any strong smell as I rolled on the paint. I really like the egg shell sheen as it looks great and makes the wall easier to wipe off. The best thing about this paint is the technology in it. It states this “smart” paint is self cleaning, air purifying and has biofilm destroying benefits. Using light it eliminates VOCs and air pollution. The antimicrobial surface kills bacteria and viruses on the surface, and as such it’s mold reducing. The steamy bathroom should be a good test for mold. This paint is only slightly more expensive than a high quality brand of paint but I think it is worth it for the high-tech benefits and quality of the product.

I used the 1 GAL. BARCELONA BLUE LATEX INTERIOR PAINT in a bedroom of a person with allergies. They had no problem with the paint fumes and seem to be sleeping better since some of the smells that were in the room are being absorbed by the paint. Being latex clean up was easy and coverage was good with just one coat, although I put two coats where people would be touching and the wall would have to be cleaned more often.

I have always considered Latex paint to be more nontoxic that alkyd or other oil based paints. This paint takes non toxic to a new level in that it apparently actively works to absorb and neutralize impurities and odors in the air. We live in the city here and are exposed to all the city crud from cars and trucks going by all the time and we should get some benefit from the air cleaning effect claimed by this paint. It is not latex I think but it is a water borne coating which claims to use nano technology which makes me think of Ben Bova novels. I am ready to embrace Nano Tech and spread it around. The price is higher than we usually pay but if the benefits live up to the claims , I am good with that.

The Segovia Cream Latex Interior Paint by Activa Coating is well-made and is sold exclusively at the Home Depot.
I was curious to find why the gallon of paint is much more expensive as compared it to the others. I then found out there are additional features of the paint such as antimicrobial, self-cleaning (less dirt build-up), and pollution reducing. I use the paint in my bathroom mainly to avoid the potential mold build up. It will take some time for me to witness the self-cleaning part later. The paint itself is kind of thick and the manufacturer recommended to add a cup of water to dilute it before use. It works similar to other paint but it does not have the odor and dries quickly which is great.

Well, first I was a little confused about the contents as well as the directions. Directions like this, about adding water, is mostly unheard of in the US. However, I did just that, but I used two buckets as my mixing set-up to avoid spilling and making a mess. I’m using this on old pink paint, some of it is stained and just dirty. After hitting the wall with 80 grit sandpaper to remove surface bumps I applied it with a roller. The coverage was awesome and the roller seemed to glide itself over the surface. The viscosity seems different from products I have used in the past, but the results and ease of application are great.

This paint is a good quality paint with many features like it’s self cleaning, anti-microbial and contains no VOCs. It really has very little to no odor. It’s pretty thick so you can probably get one coat coverage depending on your situation. Your walls are suppose to stay cleaner longer, so we will see about that one. The only drawback for me was the color. It appeared similar in color in one online photo but not the 2nd one I saw, so because the name was Barcelona Blue, I took a chance that it was closer to the blue paint picture. It was not, it’s a shade of green. That being said, it turned out ok because it’s the perfect shade I needed in my bathroom! I’m happy with it.

This paint is definitely a new concept in paint. It is considered a smart paint. It’s a deodorizing paint that helps to reduce mold and kills viruses. It also cleans the air. This paint works great in any room. The paint is very thick and covers well. The manufacturer suggest that you should add water to make it go on easier, and that works very well. You do not get the same paint odors as you paint. I won’t use any other paint after using this.

Wow this white ceiling paint is awesome! I had to paint my husband’s office ceiling which was dirty and yellowed from 8 years of cigarette smoke. I only had to do one coat and it was so easy to apply. This bright white ceiling paint by Activa covered the yellow stained ceiling and removed all odors and left the room with a nice clean smell. I painted my ceiling on a day that was sunny and 62 degrees out. I had to add 3/4 cup of filtered water to the gallon of paint like the directions said because it lost some of its water in its travels. I stirred the gallon of paint for about 20 minutes before applying to make sure the added water was applied through out all the paint. The more the sun came shining through the windows the bad smells dissipated away quicker and the air was giving off a clean smell. This paint is activated by sunshine so you want to apply this paint on a sunny day. I have a lot more ceilings to do so I will definitely be buying a few more gallons.

Anticipating a new project coming up, I have gotten this Activa intelligent coating, because it provides a self-cleaning, deodorizing, air purifying and a biofilm that when applied is also a mold reducing paint and filters pollutants and odors. It is a sustainable and self-cleaning covering which will be perfect for my project. In reading the papers that came with it, I learned I have to add one cup of water to the gallon of paint, it can also be tinted for color if I need, but will have to be hand mixed as it comes in a secure sealed one gallon pail. I am excited to used this paint because it is so healthy for our environment.

My first introduction to this product has been very positive. I used it in a bathroom where I was covering a dark brown with this paint in pewter. Because of the drastic change in colors, it did require two coats, but seems well worth the effort. This advanced formula provides a quality finish, while offering advantages not available in other paints. I strongly suggest that people read the technical data provided in the PDFs. Frankly, my initial impression was that it was simply sales hype. However, in researching the technology, it is the “real deal!”
My only word of caution; odd though it seems, the manufacturer suggests that the user add one cup of water per gallon prior to mixing. This is an instruction well worth noting.

This is a very difficult review because I cannot say whether it works or not. The gallon bottle came with NO instructions and everything I have learned about the product has come from the internet and Home depot website. I want to use it on my car but don’t want to damage it because from what I have read effects are permanent. It claims to be good on all surfaces including glass so in theory a car should be ideal. The product is a milky white watery substance and although Home depots site says apply with a brush I have read it is better to apply with a spray gun. Once applied it is dry within an hour and leaves no film. For a kitchen or Bathroom this is fantastic. If this product works then it really is revolutionary and worth every cent. Imagine the time you would save not having to clean. I may do a test with the granite counter tops in my bathroom and then do another review. I really want to give this more stars just because of the claims but I have to be impartial.

Cons: no application information, no videos of home uses

I ordered this ceiling paint because we are removing our popcorn ceiling and needed ceiling paint. This paint will help with any pollutants in our air and add to the reduction of bacteria in our home. It comes with instructions to be certain to add water because the paint might have lost some moisture during transport. It also can be tinted at a paint store, but will need to be hand stirred.

We own a second house that our son lives in. It had some bad kitchen plumbing that leaked, and the leak created some mold on one wall. We are tearing down that wall, fixing the plumbing, and replacing the wall. When I read that this Activa 1 gal. Madrid Beige Latex Interior Paint works to kill mold, I figured that this area would be a great location to test it out. While we will be eliminating all visible signs of mold, those mold spores are invisible and move around in the air. It’s too early yet to say how well this paint works at killing mold, but it certainly is worth trying since mold can be so deadly to breathe in. This paint is also supposed to kill odors and be easy to clean, so those are big pluses in our book too. They say the mold and odor killing properties are activated by sunlight, so that is something to keep in mind. Thanks Activa, and Home Depot!

We just recently built a new large walk-in closet in our bedroom. The outer walls of the closet face our bedroom area, and our three Great Danes sleep near those walls. We got some laminate wood flooring to act as wainscoting and needed a good paint to paint the area above the wainscoting. When I read about the odor-killing properties of this Activa 1 gal. Toledo Pewter Latex Interior Paint, I figured a great place to test that out would be these new walls. Our dogs don’t have a real bad odor, but they are dogs, so any odor removal is a plus. It is still too early to speak authoritatively on how well that aspect works, but I can say that I really like this pewter color, which looks very classy with our dark hickory wainscoting. Our house tends to be dusty, so the claim that this paint is easier to keep clean also greatly appeals to us. Thanks Activa, and Home Depot!

I can’t say enough about this paint!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!
I bought this paint as it cleans the air when the lights are on or there is light coming through the windows! Brilliant!!
I purchased the gallon online and picked it up at my local Home Depot. I chose a Behr paint color to be added (any color that Home Depot offers can be done) and had the paint department add the colorant. I did have to take the paint home and mix it there as the machine in the paint department is not compatible with this bucket of paint.
I added the 1 cup of water according to the manufacturer’s instructions. On a side note, next time I may add the paint and water to a larger bucket as it did take me longer to mix the paint (15 minutes) because the paint bucket was then full and I didn’t want it to slosh out. But 15 minutes wasn’t bad either. I was just impatient to get painting! 🙂
The paint went on smooth and buttery. I would compare the consistency and quality to that of Behr Marquee or another high-end paint. I was a little nervous with adding the water but the consistency was what it needed to be for great coverage. Two coats: because I don’t care what any paint says it can deliver, two coats are always a must in my opinion.
Now, I know this a long review, but here is the best part…THE PAINT CLEANED THE ODOR OF PAINT FUMES!! WHAATTT??!! Crazy but true!! That’s like a child of mine cleaning up after himself without me asking! Almost unheard of!!

I usually can smell a room that I’ve painted for about 3 days. I painted in January in Chicago so I was DEFINITELY not going to be opening windows to vent the area. I finished painting around 4 pm and by 6 am the next morning, the paint smell was gone! So amazingly awesome!! I will definitely use this paint when I paint my kitchen… I love the idea of my paint cleaning the cooking smells!

Hope this review helps those out there considering this paint. Worth the cost and effort to mix it!!

Susan

Excellent paint choice for my application. The product meets and exceeds what it is designed to do. Keeps the area looking and smelling clean after application.

We bought this and had it mixed to a custom color at the store. Half Sea Fog, and put it on our two bathroom walls. Mixed as an egg shell, using a house-brand formulation, and the store wouldn’t put it in their mixers (afraid it would spill out), so we got home and mixed it by hand (about 5 minutes). We followed the recommendation of adding 1 cup of water (thick formulation), and it turned out great. Odor reducing is key to where we painted, and it covered in 1 coat. Very happy.

Used this over the weekend, and painted a large bedroom. It held the edge really well, and I didn’t have to mask off anything…. and I am far from Leonardo DaVinci. Applied over a yellow wall, and coated in one coat, no second needed. One thing the manufacturer recommends is to add a cup of water to the gallon so that it spreads a little easier. I did that and no problems. Will buy again.

Was first introduced to Activa in Europe and have seen its success already here in the Chicago area.
